Catholic faith formation is a lifelong journey of growing in our knowledge, understanding, and love of God. It helps individuals and families develop a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, learn the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church, participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, and live as faithful disciples in the world.Faith formation begins in the home, where parents and guardians are the first and most important teachers of the Catholic faith. The parish supports families in this important role by providing age-appropriate instruction, prayer experiences, sacramental preparation, opportunities for service, and participation in parish life.
Catholic faith formation is more than attending a class or preparing to receive a sacrament. It is an ongoing process that includes:
Learning about Scripture and the teachings of the Catholic Church
Growing in prayer and a personal relationship with Jesus
Participating in Sunday Mass and the sacraments
Living according to the Gospel
Serving others with compassion and love
Becoming active members of the parish community
Faith formation is for everyone—children, teenagers, adults, and families. No matter where you are on your faith journey, there is always an opportunity to grow closer to Christ and become more fully the person God is calling you to be. At St. Luke Catholic Church, our Family Faith Formation program partners with parents to help children build a strong Catholic foundation and prepare for a lifetime of faithful discipleship.
